Starting tomorrow, the retail industry is once again looking forward to three dark weeks. Complete loss of sales. Everything (except supermarkets, tobacconists & Co.) is up to and including 6 December. The loss is estimated at around one billion per week.
Discount of 20 % to 60
Many traders are concerned that the aid promised by the government may not be sufficient. As reported, the industry can expect 20 to 60 percent – depending on the perishability of the goods. The starting point is 40 percent, then – depending on the perishability of the goods – Florists, for example, can count on 60 %, furniture stores on only 20 %.
That is why traders are happy to be able to take advantage of the last few days before the lockdown – because today is likely to be another rush for business. Already on Saturday, there was high activity before the lockdown. Throughout Austria there were long queues and above-average customer frequency in shopping streets, DIY stores and shopping centers.
